Personal Protection Dog Training will teach a dog to protect the person he is with or his property.
This implies the dog is properly trained and socialized to go anywhere and everywhere you do, and behave properly in public, be aware of his surroundings and neutralize any threat to you, your family or your property.
Personal protection dog is trained to the ultimate level of excellence in obedience dog training, including sit, down, stay, come, and heel on one command.
In your home the dog will have a stay command to keep him/her where you want him until he/she is needed. All Protection Training is performed both on and off leash, set to the highest standard of protection dog training.
Personal protection dog training is very different from Schutzhund and other related dog sports. It is where the men are separated from the boys, so to speak.
Most of the dogs do not have what it takes to be protection trained, and this has a lot to do with their genetics. Any dog can have a good prey drive, but most dogs don’t have defense drive and it is not something that you can train into them!
Remember, these dogs are not aggressive, nor are they uncontrollable. It takes years to build a dog’s drives to this point, and the dog’s handler is always in control.
These dogs are used mostly in police and military work. I am completely blown away by what these teams can do!
Don’t try training your dog in protection because it looks good. This is serious dog training, if you really feel that your dog has what it takes, find a very experienced professional dog trainer to work with.
